Scouting
The Scout movement is the largest youth organization in the world and celebrated its international
centenary in 2008. SA Scouting’s first and foremost aim is to educate with the intention of
advancing and nurturing the leadership skills of the youth in our community. 1st Blaauwberg Sea
Scouts is a proud member of this organization and has achieved remarkable growth since
inception. It is currently one of the top Scout Groups in the Western Cape.
1st Blaauwberg
We run both Cub and Scout programmes from our premises in Tableview. Both have structured
meetings once a week during school terms which are organised and run by uniformed trained
adult volunteers. These sessions focus on the various skills that the boys and girls will use in
external Scouting and Cub competitions and activities as well as giving them the opportunity to
develop leadership and teamwork abilities.
Although we participate in a multitude of land activities such as hiking and pioneering, our main
focus is on water activities. We sail at both Zandvlei and Rietvlei.
